A big shout out to all of you in the cybersphere who’ve joined us over the past three weeks. We couldn’t be happier with the way word about the blog has spread--both virally (thanks all you emailers) and through the press (word up, NY Times). But now comes the fun part: The stories we’re running now are fine entertainment, we’re sure, but now that we have a critical mass of readership, the really good stuff will happen when all of you start to dish to us. That head of M&A at your firm doinking his secretary? Your evil boss make you pull three all-nighters in a row? An entire trading team just walk off the trading floor to head to a rival firm? We want to know. You can send us a tip on the hush-hush via email or just sign in as Anonymous in the comments sections of one of the posts and give us the scoop there.
Thanks,
Your Cruise Director

Yeah, like someone’s going to risk their neck (and their bonus) by posting something on a blog, or letting out confidential information. I’ll believe it when I see it…

Be wary of keyboard recorders int he office—every letter you type can gets recorded.

Best off posting from home . . .

They can’t track what you write in these Comments sections...Also,, the easy way around the personal email problem is to buy your own domain name and then set up webmail. They don’t seem to be able to block that!

dude, you guys make seem like y’all don’t own a personal PC or laptop outside of work, and hence can’t escape the Big Brother weave of detection.  Don’t have access to Internet or computer outside of Lehman, you don’t say!

a lot of firms have policies against posting on blogs.. basically for the same reason you’re not allowed to read personal e-mail accounts (e.g. hotmail, gmail, etc) at work: it can’t be archived in their central repositories, needed for future lawsuits, etc.

Thanks, anonymous, we’ll check it out. Sounds like some good material!

A lot of Wall Streeters are reading the online serialization of exCEO Tom Evslin’s novel hackoff.com (www.hackoff.com) hoping NOT to find themselves there.  Evslin says, of course, that the book and characters are fiction but the fictional company had its IPO and secondary about the same time as Evslins ITXC did.  For the record, Lehman Bros was on the left for the ITXC IPO.

The scenes of the roadshows for the IPO and secondary including the limo rides and presentations to fund managers read true altho are clearly from a CEO and not a banker POV.

If anonymity is guaranteed, I don’t see why not, although given that most of the banks track *everything* you do online its going to be tough…
