Allen Wastler to Head Up CNBC.com
CNBC.com is bringing in a new Managing Editor, who will hopefully inject a little pizazz into the website, which was relaunched 8-months ago. He is coming aboard from CNNMoney.com, which was a source of compelling content, in my opinion. This could be a shot in the arm for the struggling site, which has boatloads of potential, but little mindshare.
CNBC.com today announced that Allen Wastler is joining the network as Managing Editor of CNBC.com. In this new role, Wastler will guide and oversee all editorial content for CNBC.com.
Prior to joining CNBC.com, Wastler was Managing Editor of CNNMoney.com, a joint venture between CNN and Time Inc, where he was responsible for all editorial and content production. Before his tenure as Managing Editor at CNNMoney.com, Wastler was the Managing Editor of CNNfn.com where he headed all editorial operations for the site. Wastler was also a regular commentator on CNN’s weekend business shows and appeared frequently on various CNN networks to comment on breaking business news events.
“Allen’s whole professional life has been about business news or, more specifically, timely and investor-oriented business news. With that background, Allen will make a significant contribution to our Web site,” said Meredith Stark, Vice President, CNBC.com.
Although I am starting to doubt whether Rupert Murdoch will be able to get this deal for Dow Jones done, lets work on the assumption he does. Allen will have his hands full fending off the folks at Fox, not too mention the thousands of blogs and other remora nipping at his heels.
