Bernanke’s Moves To Echo in Eternity
A roman slave turned Gladiator once said What we do in life echoes in eternity.
Ben Bernanke is in the fight of his life, and his legacy is on the line. His recent moves are certain to provoke additional drama, as this afternoon’s invasion of Bear Stearns’ 383 Madison Headquarters by acitivists shows. Maybe those bodyguards are a good idea after all.
Professor Richard Sylla from NYU’s Stern School has studied past crises, and is starting to warm up to Bernanke’s leadership. The blogosphere is not quite that conciliatory, but Ben did avert a meltdown.
Is Bernanke a gladiator or a patsy? Making him the goat for Greenspan’s sins does not seem fair.
David Darst from Morgan Stanley and Nick Sargen from Cincinnati-based Fort Washington Investment Advisors add sober commentary to this subdued edition of Wealthtrack, where they attempt to put recent events into historical context.
