The bearish camp has been the place to be over the past month. Abhijit Chakrabortti has seen his bearish posture rewarded, as he bolts from JP Morgan to Morgan Stanley.

Abhijit Chakrabortti, Wall Street’s most bearish stock strategist the last two years, resigned from JPMorgan Chase & Co. to become Morgan Stanley’s chief global and U.S. equity strategist.

Chakrabortti, 39, replaces Henry McVey, who quit in June to join hedge-fund manager Fortress Investment Group LLC, according to Morgan Stanley spokeswoman Jennifer Sala. Chakrabortti stepped down as JPMorgan’s top equity strategist on Aug. 17.

Chakrabortti remained stubbornly bearish during most of 2006 and 2007 before getting a bit of short-term vindication.  And he continues to buck the trend. Not because of his market calls, however. Many high-profile strategist’s have left for the BuySide over the past year. On Wall Street, the grass is always greener, not matter what path you take.

And Jamie Dimon will have one less guy to kick around.
