Commercial Banks Do Well By Their CEOs

Almost half of the commercial banks that Citigroup’s research department tracks paid their CEO more than the targeted compensation levels. Out of 17 banks, seven paid their chiefs more than expected and four paid less than expected. Not surprisingly, Citigroup notes that “there continues to be only small correlation between C.E.O. compensation and performance.” Shareholders will be thrilled.
