Disaster at LeMans
Monday, June 11, 2007 - 1:18 pm
On June 11, 1955, 77 people were killed an additional 77 injured when two cars collided at speeds approaching 150 MPH and tumbled into the grandstand. The accident happened two hours into the race, which inexplicably was allowed to continue despite the carnage. It was the biggest disaster ever in Motorsports, unless you count the millions of fans bored to death by the Indy 500 over the past decade.
