Why doesn’t MJ sell his stake? Where did all his money go? Were Neverland and private slumber parties that financially draining?
Fortress May Snatch Beatles Rights from Jackson
Fortress Investment Group may soon be the owners of a 50% stake in the publishing rights to th Beatles catalog. The New York-based private equity firm bought a $200 million loan Bank of America had made to Jackson that was secured by the publishing rights. The loan comes due today. The half-stake is worth an estimated $500 million which represents an impressive rate of return for Jackson who paid only $48 million for them in the mid-80s. The King of Pop, who has retreated to Bahrain, could not be reached for comment, though his lawyers expressed optimism that a settlement could be reached.
