God Bless Alphaville

It has been nearly a year now since I re-launched this address, whose predecessor site, underthecounter.net, was knocked off by Dealbreaker, which has been an undeniable success.  Although the founder of underthecounter, Browstoner, was hilarious, he went off to run his own Brooklyn-centric blog, and I wanted to take the content in a different direction.

I have done little to promote this site, the fund manager in me finds something distasteful in some of the promotional activities bloggers take part in; after all, I was trained to short promotional management teams if their actions warranted it.

Still, I was pleased with the traffic, and the new Alexa ranking system seems to be picking up on that fact, as their one-week numbers finally reflect reality thanks to changes in their measurement methodology.

Most of the traffic is organic, but yesterday the Financial Times Alphaville added me to their blogroll, which is much appreciated.

Thanks mates, I am partial to second growth Bordeaux and have a bottle of Ducru or Las Cases with your name on it.

I am here to help, but fair warning, I don’t get everything right.  A sentiment, I am sure, Chrystia Freeland can appreciate, given she called CROCS Inc a “long” in her Wallstrip interview in March of 2007. Of course, she was joking, but it is funny all the same.

With Princess Beatrice getting ready to hit the ground running, I am long Alphaville. Lets hope she gets her own byline, and adds some value to the web.

Cheers, Rule Britannia, and God Save the Queen.

I should quickly find out if Beatice has a sense of humor.
