Hopefully the Babe finds all this amusing…

Another carefully timed ambush hits Barry Bonds, and Gary Sheffield, on the verge of the new home run record:

The chemist who developed the performance-enhancing drug known as ``the clear’’ said he thinks Major League Baseball sluggers Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield took steroids.

Patrick Arnold, who created the then-undetectable steroid that was distributed by the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative, said on HBO Sports’ ``Costas Now’’ program airing last night that he believes both players used the drug.

Curt Schilling is mouthing off too, talking smack to Costas.  But Bonds is firing back…

Bonds also said Wednesday that Costas was a “midget who knows [nothing] about baseball.”

Odds are the Bud Selig will still try to be there when Barry hits the big one...although asking him to clap while Barry rounds he bases is probably out of the question.
