M&A Is Still a Short
Several months ago we legged into a short position on Andrew Ross Sorkin and Dennis Berman, the erstwhile M&A journalists at the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, respectively.
They are fine fellows, no doubt, but the action has slowed considerably, and they are under employed at the moment. Berman is trying to keep busy however, and this excellent interview with Christopher Lawrence, the co-head on investment banking at Rothschild North America, will shed light on one of the few bright spots, cross-border activity.
Lawrence thinks the overall environment will get worse before it gets better, and also speaks to overcapacity in the industry.
