The monkey business is over...welcome back to work

We are licking our wounds ‘round here...and to add insult to injury the commercials were weak.

Miss the chimps?

The Careerbuilder ads were a favorite on Wall Street...given that they accurately portrayed life in the Jungle.

PETA came down pretty hard on Careerbuilder, who pulled the ads amid allegations of animal mistreatment.

They were certainly were popular, 84% of the respondents in this poll claim to miss the rambunctious simians.

After helping CareerBuilder climb over Monster.com to become the largest online job site, the chimps are being let go--right before the second anniversary of the 2005 Super Bowl commercial that vaulted them, and the company, into public consciousness.

With 83 million MONK-E-MAILS downloaded, it would seems fans are legion:

These are hysterical. I applaud PETA for their organization, but feel it should focus their efforts on baby seals, or furs. These monkeys don’t appear to be mistreated…they have better suits than my husband. Seriously, I don’t think any animal should be mistreated, but I also believe God put things on this earth to make us laugh, and monkeys were one of them. (p.s. These meetings are JUST like corporate America…I love it!) Duncans.tv/comment

Don’t fret
Monk-e-mails are still alive, even if the chimps are retired.

Maybe Monster (MNST-NASDAQ) can return to form next year...they were once in the game
