NYT Prints 52-week Lows, Deathwatch Continues
I hate to interrupt the bear market with more bad news, but shares of the New York Times (NYT-NYSE) skidded to fresh 52-week lows yesterday while Andrew Ross Sorkin rubs elbows with media moguls in Sun Valley spending Pinch’s money.
Somehow I bet the assembled billionaries did not take Mark Andreesen seriously, but the joke will continue to be on them, especially if they are running a paper.
And for what it is worth, the Deathwatch is still on.
The Activist hedgies got the story right:
February 2, 2008
A hedge fund manager who acquired a stake in the New York Times Company and is pushing to gain seats on its board sent a letter to the company on Sunday in which he criticised directors as “ineffective” and called for it to shed more non-core assets.
But are getting the stock wrong.
