Picks and Pans from Highland Capital’s Bob Davis

There are a lot of pretenders in the digital media space. Many of the bloggers covering the space are pretenders as well. How much ass can these people kiss?  It is so transparent it makes me want to puke.

Kara Swisher and Bob Davis are the real deal. Davis certainly was promtional circa ‘99, but seems to have mellowed. The former head of Lycos is now at Highland Capital; and apparently is managing to survive without twittering or running a website that endlessly promotes himself or his firm. Rather unlike some people, who crave constant attention, and get a stream of sycophants constantly telling them how awesome they are.

I am short faux internet celebrities who specialize in constant promotion of the crappy little VC funds, and long class.

Bob pitches his investment in Quattro Wireless, which reminds me more of Mobile 1.0 than 2.0, but has more money behind him than the rest of these fools, combined.

He took a minute to talk to Kara Swisher, bringing her up to speed, and sharing his view on what is hot, and not.

And in case you wondered, there is life after Lycos, at least for the the Lycos dog, who is still alive and kicking.
