One year ago today David Weidner from MarketWatch wrote the following article:

Pixel-stained wretches

NEW YORK (MarketWatch)—By now you’ve heard just about all you can take about blogs. You know, the amateurish web sites that the media keeps yabbering on about, but no one actually reads.

Put your fingers in your eyes because here comes more yabber.

Wall Street blogs are sprouting up everywhere. Some are good. Some are funny. Some are boring and some, by comparison, make the stock tables in the back of the newspaper read like poetry.

When someone creates editing software that keeps bloggers from spewing what you wouldn’t bother telling your dog, that, folks, is going to be a revolution.

What follows is a small sample of what’s out there. I talked to a few of these people to find out why, why in mammon’s name would they spend their time in their jammies writing about Wall Street from their parents’ basement. Marketwatch

We don’t know what Mr. Weidner is thinking today. We keep reading about a bull market in his employer’s (DJ-NYSE) publications...but when you punch up the ticker (DJ) you see a stock that has not been invited to the party.  An old friend of ours says it best…

Our introduction to blogging was rather rude...one of our first posts was ripped off by the most respected news organizations in this country. We did not know the staid world of journalism was so cutthroat…

David does not seem to know if anyone is reading blogs...we can assure him that they are. We had a record month on our site last month and are pretty sure we are not alone. More people read this blog than our home town newspaper.

We would also like to thank the people who tune in here each and every day. A blue-chip list of Wall Street’s elite...it blows us away to see who is on this site. Some of you are like clockwork.

Maybe those guys from Dow Jones are beginning to figure it out...we cannot imagine a world without Barrons, MarketWatch or the Journal. But we don’t take anything for granted…

Well, in my book, you either do it right, or you get eliminated
