cramerWe used to occasionally enjoy Jim Cramer’s rants when he was on Kudlow and Cramer and the outbursts were only a portion of the show, but how anyone tolerates and hour of his carry-on we do not know. We prefer to learn what he’s thinking by reading New York Magazine. Psycho or not, if you’re in the markets, it may pay to watch what he’s saying. Former broker Michael McGown, who tracks Cramer’s recommendations on a web site of his called YourMoneyWatch.com, says that the mad man of Wall Street’s portfolio is up 6.39 percent since July 28, a period in which the Dow is up only 0.82 percent. Still, does he really need to throw chairs and bang keyboards?

Comments:

Does Cramer forget to take his meds whenever he goes on the air? His show is pretty disturbing!

+6% since late July last year is no great shakes.  Small caps and non-US equities have both beaten that over the same time period.

He sure can move little stocks by ranting about them on TV, though.  That does impress me.

According to the website calcs done by my 401k provider (you can enter in date ranges and the calcs will filter out your’s and company contributions), my pfolio of stock funds is up 11.2% from 7/28/05 to yesterday’s close.

Is he really out to help the little guy as he claims?  Probably not, his net worth is too high.  He is noteworthy for being able to move stocks of smaller companies by screaming about them on his show.  It’s ESPN meets Louis Rukeyser.
