RIM’s Market Cap Blows Past Motorola’s
The boys in Waterloo continue to set new milestones almost daily in their scorched earth campaign. Not bad for a bunch of canucks:
Research in Motion today delivered Motorola a symbolic blow.
The market capitalization of the BlackBerry maker climbed above that of the world’s second-largest handset maker for the first time. (Founded in 1984, RIM is more than 50 years younger than Motorola, which was founded in 1928.)
You might want to note that, at least according to unreliable databases, that the enterprise value of RIM is safely ahead as well. We prefer enterprise value calculations round here.
Peruse the comments section of the post below. The Bancroft family might hold themselves out as protectors of a grand tradition, but apparently their average reader does not know how to account for stock splits. What have they been doing for the last 80 years? Certainly not teaching accounting 101 to the unwashed masses.
You are in good company, demographically speaking, at 1440 Wall Street, at least until we flip the switch and redirect the search traffic from the old site. For now, we have some real money surfing the site.
A Milestone for RIM
