i think every i-banker (lawyer, hedge funder, private equity person, choose your poision) dreams of that moment. having enough “f--k you!” money to call it a day.
Veteran I-Banker Realizes Banking Sucks
We love a good lid-life crisis, especially when you can’t argue with the reasoning. Yesterday 18-year Wall Street veteran Kevin Roche resigned from his most recent employer, Wachovia, citing personal reasons.
“Kevin wants to change the course of his life and just get out of the industry,” spokeswoman Amy Jones said. “It was his decision. It’s a life choice.”
What she didn’t say was that, actually, it wasn’t that hard a decision. First of all, the lifestyle of an investment banker sucks balls; secondly, the dude has probably socked away a solid eight-digit number. So why the hell not?

My personal opinion is that those who do a job for the money will get there only if they are lucky. If you like making money because it is a report card of your success you will win in the end.
You nailed it, TraderView.
He probably knew it sucked from the get go.
Give the guy a break. He probably enjoyed his work and the success and lifestyle in brought him, but things change. Maybe the guy got married & started a family, or maybe he has health issues that are nobody’s business.
I enjoy the game, but I also enjoy knowing that I’m only a few yrs away from the “number” (my number is not 8 figures). I don’t plan to retire, but I like knowing I could if I wanted to. I totally dream about doing what this guy is doing, even though in reality I’d probably go stir crazy.
