When Markets Collide: El-Erian Picks Up Another Award
Mohamed El-Erian has taken the investment world by storm; the Co-Chief Investment Officer of Pimco seems to be everywhere, and even critics of his employer (who generally fail to acknowledge the remarkable track record of Pimco's Total Return Fund) drop everything, EF Hutton-style, when El-Erian pops up on television.
His best selling book was once again singled out-the Financial Times just named When Markets Collide-Investment Strategies For the Age of Global Economic Change their business book of the year.
El-Erian's book is not just for Global Macro Fund managers...it is mandatory reading for anyone trying to make sense of the mess we are in and the policy responses we have seen since it all began to unfold nearly 18 months ago.
El-Erian remains optimistic, and believes there is light at the end of the tunnel as we begin to form a bottom...although it will be a lengthy process. Much of the damage is behind us, and the next chapter in this saga will focus on the re-tooling process for financial institutions and changing regulatory landscape. It hindsight there was too little, but getting too heavy handed will retard future growth. A difficult balancing act, indeed.
El-Erian's book gives you insights picked up during his tenure at the IMF, and is written in an easy to understand format that will appeal to both Managing Directors and college students. The debate is on over the future of financial market regulation, and while the events are moving at breakneck speed the book will get you up to speed on the challenges, and opportunities, posed by the new global economy. Lets face it...there is no going back.
Mandatory reading despite the unfortunate Greenspan endorsement
