Worship God, Allah, Whomever, Get Rich

We gotta get us some religion. Fast. We've always ignored the Sunday morning televangelists promising prosperity to the faithful, but now that a real, live economist--from Harvard, no less--is touting the theory, we're believers. Check out the findings: On average, a household with double the rate of religious attendance as another household has 9.1 percent more income. That extra participation in religious activity decreases welfare participation by 16 percent from the usual rate. Not too shabby. Worth a few trips to ye olde house of worship we'd say. Of course, if you factor in the $88 billion in religious donations every year, we wonder how far ahead the church-goers really are.
